And just to make things clear, both the tablets don’t offer an SD Card slot. I feel that 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is a sweet sport and should be fine for most artists out there. Hence, the connectivity suite offered by the Surface Pro is way more exhaustive. While the iPad Pro manages to bring a single Thunderbolt 4 Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, and Wi-Fi 6 support. Even the iPad Pro works relatively well with resources like Procreate, Photoshop, Inspire Pro, and more, but the Surface Pro wins this hands down by offering support for apps that most designers prefer using.Ĭonnectivity: The Surface Pro 8 makes room for two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.1, and Wi-Fi 6 standard. The first, what, ten seasons are comedy gold, though, and there’s just too many great episodes to mention. The Simpsons, of course, holds a special place in my heart, but like so many others, I stopped watching it long ago. Another T-shirt!!!!!Īs an adult, I watch fewer cartoons, but I still like them. I watched a lot of cartoons when I was a kid, of course, but those were my favorites. Who didn’t love Jonny Quest? And I always had a soft spot for The Mighty Heroes and Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, especially the Juggernaut episode. Of course, I only ask for one favorite, but it’s hard to pin these down!!!! I love a lot of animated shows!!!! In the old-school category, there’s Battle of the Planets, which for a long time was even more obscure than Star Blazers. The show was a serial, which was a novelty for kids back then, and it dealt in “adult” themes, which now I know was a feature of Japanese animation but was bizarre back then for American kids. I never saw Season Three, which is a tragedy of epic proportions. The Comet Empire was, if possible, even more impressive than Desslok. The story of the Argo and its voyage to Iscandar to rescue the Earth from the depravations of Gamilon and its leader, Desslok, is excellent, and the dumb-ass love triangle between Wildstar, Venture, and Nova was just so dumb-ass it became fun. One very minor reason I clicked with my wife was that she was a fan of the show. So there’s a whole thing of childhood and friendship and even snobbishness, as after it stopped running here in the States, it was hard for years to find anyone who had even heard of the show. Part of it is nostalgia, I admit – I began watching Star Blazers around 1980, when I was not yet ten years old, and I would watch with my two best friends, and we would literally stop whatever we were doing at that time and run inside (we were usually outside) and watch the show (how did we ever survive without streaming services?!?!?!?). I love every danged minute of it, and when I watched some of it as an adult, I loved it still. My favorite cartoon of all time is the aforementioned Star Blazers. I know that animated shows can fall into as many categories as non-animated shows, but I’m not going to do that, either! My only criterion for this Question is that the show must be animated!!!!! I’m not going to make any distinction between them, but I don’t care if you do. Obviously, there are “adult” cartoons and “kid” cartoons. Then, my Star Blazers T-shirt came up in my rotation, so that made me think of cartoons I love (why, yes, I have a T-shirt rotation – doesn’t everyone?). One, I noted that ten years ago, Gravity Falls debuted on Disney Channel, and Gravity Falls is awesome. (So, for instance, you might load Deckadance as a full DJ tool inside software like Ableton Live, Maschine, or Renoise, adding a synced DJ set right inside a live setup. This can automatically be set per bar or per beat. The Dj software enables you to snap loops or effects to a certain time in the song. The main page of has changed to reflect the commercial version of the game, rather than the open source PC game, although the PC game's page remains accessible. It is based on CryEngine 3, instead of the DarkPlaces (Quake) engine used in the original game. While the game uses the same name, it adopts a futuristic, Victorian art style. This version was released on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and Steam. On March 3, 2010, it was announced the name Nexuiz had been licensed to IllFonic game studios as a platform for a commercial release. On July 13, 2010, Crytek announced that it had licensed the Cryengine 3 for Illfonic's Nexuiz. Many of the core contributors and community members of Nexuiz moved to this new project as they felt that sale of the name Nexuiz mishandles the original project. On March 22, 2010, the fork Xonotic of Nexuiz was announced. On March 1, 2010, it was revealed a company known as Illfonic purchased the rights to the name Nexuiz, and a proprietary license to the source-code, the details of any potential legal conflicts are not yet known. From mid-November 2008, a number of people expressed interest in continuing development of Nexuiz. Responses to this call highlighted the need for better documentation of QuakeC and the Nexuiz code, while also acknowledging the difficulty that documentation of this placed on the small team of Nexuiz developers. In October 2008, a call was made for more developers for Nexuiz by the main (and only) QuakeC developer, who identified organizational issues associated with a many user, one developer model. This includes all new GUI graphics elements, as well as reflective water and improved particles. On February 29, 2008, nearly three years after the initial release, version 2.4 was released and brought major improvements to both the GUI and the graphics engine. Development continued after the initial release, with 1.1 released soon after, 1.5 released February 14, 2006, 2.0 released Jand 2.1 September 9, 2006. After four years of development with no budget, Nexuiz 1.0 was released on May 31, 2005, completely under the GNU GPL, and by the end of June had over a quarter million downloads. The original design called for a simple deathmatch project with a few levels and one character model to be released the next summer. Soon afterward the project moved to the DarkPlaces Quake engine created by Forest Hale, who later also joined the project. Nexuiz development started as a Quake modification in the summer of 2001 by Lee Vermeulen. Currently there are a few custom mods and maps used. Nexuiz supports most Quake modifications (although with varying functionality). It can also support new gametypes, or whole conversions quickly applied to it (much like Quake). Nexuiz is primarily multiplayer (though it includes a full single-player campaign, which allows one to play through the various multiplayer game types and maps with bots), and allows for hosting and joining of games. All these effects can be turned off to make the game run on older hardware. The graphics in Nexuiz use coronas, the bloom shader effect, Realtime World and Dynamic Lighting and shadowing, shaders (with OpenGL 2.0), offset mapping, and High dynamic range rendering. It includes thirteen weapons, 24 official maps and over 240 community created maps, as well as 15 player models. Nexuiz is an FPS game, heavily inspired by the original Quake games, even running on a modified Quake engine known as DarkPlaces engine. Jag har alla fina dagar kvar / I have all my beautiful days left to live Jag är skör och jag är oslagbar / I am fragile and invincible “Stark och sårbar / Strong and vulnerable” It’s the end of a chapter, but also the start of something new. Then in 2019 I gave up teaching and released my first album, Stark och Sårbar. In the darkness that followed this year, the songs “Deala inte” and “En Hinning till Anton” took shape, and it felt so good! I started releasing songs by myself and for myself, but they actually gained a bit of attention. You are regularly challenged as a human, but if you don’t get any rest it easily becomes too much. In 2016, I faced what I now call my “year of challenges”. Life skills and creativity – that’s the kind of teacher I wanted to be! Instead, I studied to become an art and after-school teacher. And then I did what you’re “supposed to do” – played in a band, lived in a collective, and all that jazz, but I didn’t write anything for around five years. That was the first time I found myself in an environment where I could explore and challenge this part of myself. Then when I was 20 I started a singer-songwriter program focusing on folk music. I used to sit so I could see the driveway in front of our house so I could quickly put away the guitar when my parents got home. I mostly played in secret in my room and I wouldn’t play if anyone was home. I used to have pens and brushes but now I had melodies and music to express my thoughts and feelings. I only really knew the basic chords – G, D, and the cheat-version of an F.Īs I grew older, music slowly became another creative instrument in my toolbox. I felt it was too mathematical or academic, I think. I played some guitar, but I never learned how to read music. Instead, I used painting and drawing as my creative tools. I didn’t pursue singing seriously until I was in my late teens. I sang when I was bathing, drawing, playing – I bet my family wished they could mute me! I didn’t necessarily grow up in a musical family, but I’ve been told I was never quiet as a kid. It all just fell into place.Ĭan you tell me about your musical journey? How did we end up with Moonica Mac? When we wrapped up the conversation someone said “Well good luck with Moonica Mac then,” and I felt it as if she entered the room at that very moment. When I had started writing a bit of music I got the question “So what sound are you looking for?” and I hadn’t thought about it a lot but I said that it could be cool to mix Fleetwood Mac, Emmylou Harris, and Monica Zetterlund. The name Moonica Mac came to me by chance. You should be able to feel whatever you are feeling, but try your hardest not to lose yourself in the process. I guess you could say that she’s born out of self-respect, which is also what she’s fighting for, both music-wise as well as in life. I think Moonica has become a way for me to be less critical of myself. I think the biggest difference between us is that Lisa doesn’t necessarily want to take center stage, but Moonica loves it! She’s not made up, she’s just a part of me that sometimes shines through. Who is Moonica Mac, and how does she differ from Lisa? We met up with Lisa Brolander, the woman behind Moonica Mac, to talk about song-writing, canceled shows, and the troubles of being human: With her soft voice, contemplative aura, and deeply personal lyrics she has shown that folk-music is not dead, but is very much needed in a world that doesn’t leave enough space for reflection. Moonica Mac – the new Swedish queen of folk – has enchanted listeners from all walks of life, fast becoming a Scandinavian woman musician we love by offering solace to the heartbroken and carefully putting the feelings that we prefer to hide from view into words.
